Josh Scalf, trombone

Originally hailing from Panama City, Florida, Josh Scalf attended Troy University majoring in music education and taught for a year in Alabama at Houston Academy After a brief stint as a musician for Royal Caribbean, Josh moved home to Florida where he then taught for 3 years in Florida both privately and at Bay High School before moving to Tennessee.

Since moving to Nashville in 2014, Josh has established himself as a go-to trombonist and bass trombonist, having performed and recorded with such notable artists as Smokey Robinson, Keb’Mo’, Jake Owen, Thomas Rhett, Chris Janson, CeCe Winans, Zac Brown, Jennifer Nettles, The Lone Bellow, Kid Rock, Zack Williams, A.J. Croce, Will Hoge, T.G. Sheppard, The Temptations, The Four Tops, and many other up and coming artists. Josh has also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, The Talk, CMT Crossroads and Hot 20, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Tamron Hall, the iHeartCountry Festival, the Dove Awards, and the KLOV Fan Awards.

Josh has performed on several movie soundtracks such as Annihilation (Paramount), Asteroid Hunters (IMAX), The Last Witch Hunter (Summit and Lionsgate), as well as several video game scores for franchises such as Call Of Duty, Star Wars, Madden, Apex, Assassin’s Creed, Skylanders, and Ratchet & Clank. Josh has performed with the Nashville Symphony, The Chattanooga Symphony, The Montgomery Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, and the Nashville Jazz Orchestra.

Josh has performed on several hundred recording sessions, with multiple Grammy-nominated recordings and currently one Grammy-winning recording (Keb’ Mo’ – Oklahoma 2019).
